Bach: D-moll toccata és fúga

A toccata műfaj neve az olasz toccare (érinteni, billenteni) szóból ered. Jellemzően klaviatúrás hangszerekre írt virtuóz futamokkal és gyors figurákkal tűzdelt, fantáziaszerű műfaj.

A fúga a legmagasabb rendű polifon imitációs műfaj, a szó jelentése (futás, kergetőzés) az egymás utánzó szólamok sorban való belépésére utal.

Today, I link one of the most famous organ piece. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d minor.

The name of the toccata genre ensue the Italian word toccare (touch, tilt). This is a typical genre of keyboards, in this genre, the composer often use virtuoso roulade and very fast motives. The toccata is a fantasy-like genre.
The fuge is the most advanced genre of the polyfonic music. The word "fugue" means run, chase, which implys the entry of the one after another part in the piece.

Alekszandr Konsztantyinovics Glazunov késő romantikus orosz zeneszerző. Zenéje szinte teljes métékben az európai romantika irányvonalát követi, csak igen kevés orosz motívummal és tartalommal találkozhatunk benne (ami meglehetőse ritka orosz zeneszerzőknél). Bár véleményem szerint igen kiváló zenét írt, amit az utókor is elismer, orosz kortársai közül senki sem ismerte el tehetségét. Egyesek azt is felrótták neki, mivel sohasem nélkülüzött (egyébként gazdag családból származott) így nem lehet nagy művész.

A mai napra linkelt Op. 109. szaxofonversenye szóló szaxofonra és vonósokra íródott.

Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov was a late romantic, Russian composer. His music follows the Europian trend of the romanticism, and the Russian motives and purports are very rare in his art (it is a very rare feature the Russian composers). I think, Glazunov was a very excellent composer, and it is recognized by the posterity. But his contemporaries asided that he originated a rich family and he never lacked anything. And they said he could not be a great composer for this reason.

Today, I share his Concerto for saxophone and strings (Op. 109.).

Mára egy igazán gyönyörű és igazán különleges motettát linkelek. Szerzője Thomas Tallis angol reneszánsz komponista.

A mű érdekesség, hogy ez a motetta negyven  szólamú, nyolc öt szólamú (szoprán, alt, tenor, bariton, basszus) kórusra íródott. A fáma szerint a művet, Tallis,  I. Erzsébet angol királynő első születésnapjára kompnálta.

A művet a Tallis Scholars angol kórus adja elő, mely egy professzionális, vokális régizenére szakosodott együttes.

Today, I share a very beautiful and especial motet was composed by Thomas Tallis English, renaissance composer.

This is a motet for 40 voices, and it composed for eight choir (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass). According to the rumour, Thallis composed this piece for Elizabeth I first birthday.

The motet is performed by Tallis Scholars.
